In which season is the rotary kiln tyre prone to break?

The tyre is an important part of the rotary kiln, rotary dryer, and other rotary drum equipment. Once the tyre has quality problems, it will not only increase the maintenance cost of the enterprise but also affect production efficiency.

The rotary kiln tyre is a large cast steel part, and there may be casting defects such as sand holes, slag inclusions, and inclusions. According to the survey, most of the cracks originating from the inside of the tyres have sand holes and slag inclusions. Under normal circumstances, when the kiln is shut down for maintenance, the temperature of the kiln body is reduced from 150-300°C to atmospheric temperature, and the entire kiln body will be shortened, causing uneven internal stress of the tyre, and the action point of the tyre and the support roller will change. The sudden start of the cold kiln causes brittle fracture of the tire that is in a brittle state at low temperature. The low-temperature brittle fracture of the tyre occurs mostly in winter and spring.

According to the above description, it can be concluded that under low-temperature conditions, brittle fracture of the tyre could occur under even small stress.

Therefore, when the equipment is overhauled or intermediate repaired, the time when the temperature is below 0℃ should be avoided. Even if the kiln is overhauled in winter, it is forbidden to turn the kiln body suddenly at low temperature without preheating. When it is necessary to rotate the kiln body, heating measures should be taken at the tyre so that the temperature of the tyre is not lower than 0℃ before the kiln can be turned.

In order to enhance the performance of the rotary kiln tyre, CHAENG adopts the advanced dual-media quenching process in the casting process. It has the characteristics of high quenching hardness and high toughness, which makes the tyre with good wear resistance and can adapt to kinds of the harsh working environment.
